The day!
This is the view from where it all happened.

Here we are at the cocktail function. I had no idea of what was to come and as you can see Dave "Chucker" Swords, looks pretty crook.

We're getting married.

Will let you know where and when.

Some happy snaps

the gala dinner....as you can see our plates are empty, I was too sick to stay but I put on a brave face for as long as I could

This was some of the entertainment at the dinner. Never mind the booty, what about the shoes!

This statue is breathtaking. 30m high and a 28m armspan.
A photo doesn't capture its presence, or enormity.

As we made our way down through the forest you could catch a glimpse every now and then.

This is the view to the statue from Sugar Loaf Mountain

This view is from the statue. If you click on the picture, you will see a bridge which is 14km long. This city is huge and full of plenty of nooks and crannys to explore.

Looking from the statue towards Sugar Loaf

I stopped counting the seats once I got to 50

I'm pleased to say that this wasn't the proposal.

What a football groupie....not me, him!

Rio is all about the beach.

This is the view from the Sofitel pool area. Although the weather wasn't full on sunny, it was still beautiful.

This is from Copacabana Beach and the beach goes from where the photo is taken, to the buildings you can see across the water in the phot above this one. Sugar Loaf is in the background.

If you click on the photo above, you can see the enormity of a favella. It is home to 150,000 people.

These photos are from Ipanema Beach which is the best swimming beach. All along the beach front they have these numbered amenities. Number 9 is where all the glamours hang out, but Dave and I seemed to be the only ones there on that day.

On Sundays, they close of the entire roadway between Copacabana and Ipenema and people can just stroll back and forth. Safety first, as the driving is a bit chaotic. It really brings people out and makes a great use of the space and caters for the volume of beach goers when the weather is fine.

Bikinis, or DT's are a must regardless of age or size.

The Favellas are amazing they way they cling to the mountain side.
